Happy Halloween!

We're not too old to dress up for Halloween, right?
We paid a LOT of money for these outfits in Munich last month, so we had to get a little more wear out of them than just the disastrous Oktoberfest.

Matt had a party at his house last weekend.  He and his roommates (all guys, mind you) did an incredible job of not only cleaning, but also decorating the house for the party.  I was more than impressed!

The party was a good time, just like last year.  Maybe too good of a time?  After a couple of drinks, we decided our nice little outfits needed a change...
Our nice costumes went from this...                          ...to this.

I don't know.  I think the beard and wig look pretty good! ;)  It was entertaining, to say the least.

Here are a few of the other good costumes from the night:

Hamburglar / Pocahontas & Telletubby /  Flo, some wrestler, tired & sick / the Incredibles

On Halloween day, I spent my lunch break at Allie and Brody's school parade.  Christa MADE Allie's ridiculousy awesome peacock costume, and even did a little mini photo shoot with her.

BEAUTIFUL.

I'm so jealous.  I'm totally wearing this and being a peacock next year.  (After I shrink and lose some weight.)

Anyways, back to the school parade...  Allie wore her peacock costume, and Brody was a little army guy.  Too cute!

Hunter came to the parade, too.  He wasn't dressed up, but at least he had orange on!

(I had Halloween tights on and a Trick or Treat shirt)

Hunter was a little monster later that night...

That night, Matt and I tried to get in the Halloween spirit and make some "mummy pizzas."  Yea, right.  Not only did they look bad - and nothing like mummies - they kind of tasted that way, too.  Oh well, better luck next year...

We went down to see Hadley, who, of course, dressed up as her favorite animal - the cuteset little OWL ever.  She even flapped her wings on command!

A neighbor sporting a scary mask quickly put an end to her trick-or-treating.  She had more fun passing out the candy from the safety of her own house after that...

(I know it's mean, but I couldn't help but laugh a little as the mask got closer and her little lip started quivering before she burst out in tears... It was just too funny!)

OH - and let's not forget about the girls!
Willow and Cricket couldn't decide between being matching pumpkins...

(impossible to get them to hold still for a non-blurry picture)

...or a bumble bee and lady bug!

Turned out they hated them both, so they didn't wear them.  But they sure did look cute for the 2 minutes it lasted!

October Birthdays

October is a fun month.  On top of the nice fall weather, trees changing, college football, and Halloween costumes, I happen to have the cutest niece and nephew ever who celebrate birthdays within a week of each other!

Seriously, the cutest ever.  I'm not a bias aunt at all.  See for yourself...

                                       Hunter, 1                                                            Hadley, 2

Hadley turned 2 on October 25th, and we celebrated with an outside party at her house the weekend before.  The weather was amazing (70's), and since she received a new play set for the backyard from my mom for her birthday, it all worked out perfectly!

All the cousins

The birthday girl!

Once the kids wore themselves out on the play set, we went inside for cake.  Hadley is really in to "Little Bear" - I don't even know what that is - so that's what her birthday cake was.  She loved it, and even sang Happy Birthday to herself before (kind of) blowing out the candles.

She was a big fan of the cupcakes.  I think she ate at least three!

Hadley got lots of fun presents, but her favorite was a little toy dog.  She's really in to animals (especially owls, for some reason).  She carried that hairy little dog around the rest of the party!

Since my whole family doesn't all get together very often, we decided to take advantage of the situation and get a picture.  Took lots of tries, but we got a couple that turned out decent!  I edited this one on my iPhone.  Pretty sure it will end up being my moms Christmas card this year!

The next weekend, we celebrated Hunter's 1st birthday, which actually falls on the 29th, with a 'little monster' themed party at his house.  I can't believe this little guy is a whole year old already.  It doesn't seem like that long ago that he was born!   <-- Hunter's birth story there...

The weather was much cooler, so the chili and cinnamon rolls really hit the spot!  Matt and I sat at the kids table.  They're so much more entertaining than the adults! ;)

"12 months of Hunter" banner                           Allie's friend, Jaelyn, joined us

Hunter didn't know what to think with everyone singing to him, and he wasn't that in to the cupcake, either.  We all wanted him to just smash it around, but he was a petty nice little eater.

Monster cupcakes!

Present time after dinner!  Hunter, like Hadley, got lots of fun presents, but I think he was much more in to the wrapping paper and bows than the actual toys.  The kids tried to get him to open his own gifts, but he didn't really get it.

He is really in to wheels right now - any type of wheels - so he loved his little toy cars.  But I think one of his favorites was a vacuum cleaner he can push around.  Who would of thought!  Christa sent these pictures the next morning...vacuuming on his birthday!

I tried and tried to get a good picture of Hunter by this adorable little monster that Allie made, but he just wasn't having it.  He just wanted to tear it apart (which big-brother-Brody was happy to help with).  This was about as good as I could get.

I am pretty blessed to have such cute little ones in my life.  October will always be a fun month!

Random side note:
Look at my awesome mom rocking skinny jeans, boots, and a scarf!
She showed us young girls a thing or two about style! ;)
